The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has held an orientation programme for newly admitted first-year students, introducing them to academic life, university regulations and key support services.
Welcoming the students, the Provost of the College, Professor Charles Ofosu Marfo, gave an overview of the University’s history, governance structure and academic culture.
He urged freshers to understand the values of the institution and take responsibility for their academic and personal development.
The College Registrar, Mrs Ida Saeed, briefed students on rules and regulations governing student conduct.
She outlined expected standards of behaviour and explained sanctions for breaches, encouraging students to familiarise themselves with university policies.
The College Examinations Officer, Dr Ali Yakubu Nyaaba, guided students through examination procedures and regulations.
He explained the biometric registration process and stressed that proper registration is required for access to facilities and eligibility to write examinations.
Students were also introduced to library services by the College Librarian, Dr Beatrice Arthur, who explained operating hours, user rules, book classification systems and available academic resources.
She encouraged students to make effective use of the library’s lending and digital services to support their studies.
The College Counsellor, Mrs Bernice Serwaah Ofosuhene Peasah, outlined counselling and advisory services available to students, noting that support systems are in place to assist with academic, personal and emotional challenges.
The College Facilities Officer, Mr Kwaku Owusu Amoateng-Mensah, briefed students on facilities available within the College and offered practical guidance on their proper use to maintain a conducive learning environment.
